Longwood Shola is a location that provides visitors with a comprehensive view of Kotagiri’s wilderness in its prime. Animals such as the flying fox and Indian bison live in the lush and thick evergreen forest.
The Longwood Shola is one of Kotagiri’s most beautiful densely forested areas. The Longwood Forest, also known as the Dodda Shola by Kotagiri residents, is located 3 kilometres from the town of Kotagiri and spans 116 hectares. This sylvan refuge serves as a vital water source for Kotagiri and around 15 villages in the Aravenu area, and also helps to keep the region’s ecosystem in check.
